Barakamon ( a high-spirited person) is a manga written and illustrated by Satsuki Yoshino, which was serialized in the magazine Gangan Online of Square Enix starting in February 2009. An anime adaptation by Kinema Citrus began airing on July 5, 2014. The opening theme song is "Rashisa" performed by SUPER BEAVER, and the ending theme is "Innocence" by NoisyCell.
The story centers on Seishu Handa, a calligrapher who moves in remote Goto Islands off the west coast of Kyushu, and its interactions with the locals. A manga spin-off, entitled Handa-kun, began serialization in the Monthly Shonen Gangan of Square Enix October 2013.
