La corda d'Oro is a manga and anime style shojo and dealing with music. There are also two video games. A second season of the anime has been adapted in 2009 under the name of Secondo Passo.
The Opening Theme is "Brand New Breeze" by Kanon and the Ending Theme is "Crescendo" by Stella Quintet. The prestigious Academy Seisou is divided into two units: the first intended to regular courses, the second reserved for students of the conservatory of music.
Kahoko Hino is a student in the regular course. One morning is the spirit of music under the guise of a fairy named Lili. The spirit is at an important music competition, on which hangs a legend concerning two lovers violinists, and visible only to those who have a fair mind sensitive to music.
Hino is the only one of his generation to be able to see the goblin music. Lili gives therefore a violin with a golden cord that vibrates in harmony with the soul of the play. This allows Kahoko Hino, totally incompetent in the field, to play the instrument. Forced to participate in the competition, Hino finds himself competing with professional participants.
