The story centers on a teenage boy named Gon Freecss, who uncovers that his father, Ging Freecss, is a famous "Hunter", a distinctive which has verified themselves an upper class member of humankind.
Although Ging forsaken Gon with his families in command to chase his dreams, Gon afterwards goes out his home to pursue in his father's footsteps as a Hunter by seizing the "Hunter Exam". Preceding to the exam, Gon meets and befriends three of the other applicants, Kurapika, Killua Zaoldyeck, and Leorio.
