Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi is a series of anime created by Satoru Akahori , based on the story of two children who accidentally entering a magical district. The series was produced by Studio Gainax and consists of 13 episodes. In the U.S., it was sold initially in four volumes of CD and DVD then three who also had some extra elements in relation to its predecessor distribution.
Everything in life seems to be normal Arumi in the Abenobashi commercial district, until the family business goes bankrupt and have to close the store, this and other things forced his family to move to Hokkaido. Sasshi, best friend Arumi decide to spend one last summer unforgettable with it, but these situations make adventures both traverse parallel reality where everything is fantasy and absurdity are things everyday worlds.
Arumi and Sasshi are two childhood friends who live in a quiet district of Osaka called Abenobashi. She, along with her father and grandfather kept a business of French food , which must close due to poor sales of their products resulting in the departure of the family Arumi to Hokkaidō . The series chronicles the last summer they spend together.
One day, both discover that there is a key in the district and will ask Arumi's grandfather, but has an accident and dies Sasshi eyes. The denial of death on it (this is found near the end of the series) produces a discontinuity of time and space, so they begin a difficult journey through parallel worlds, searching for the return home.
Between worlds by traveling realities found that resemble dating simulators, fighting games and parodies of Hollywood movies. Many of them are external references to movies and animes such as Evangelion , 2001 a Space Odyssey, Love Hina or Die Cristal. The common pattern of the worlds they visit is that they all belong to the imagination of Sasshi, so it tends to unfold perfectly enjoy them while Arumi usually unhappy, resulting in hits to Sasshi. (In the world of dating, Arumi becomes the oni-demon).
The characters in the worlds they visit are always those that were presented in the first chapter, ie, families of the district. Besides these, appear munemune (Sasshi's grandmother) provided scant clothing, and Abe no Seimei a master onmyoji was Heian (aka Eutus ), who will teach Sasshi be a onmyoji to create / modify the Worlds. Abe Seimei not connected with munemune and grandfather Arumi because of a story of passion and jealousy, so she never fails to pursue Abe in all worlds (she loves him) and can not follow his destiny (in the real) world.
When Sasshi discover Arumi's grandfather is dead and therefore do not come home (since he does not accept the reality), try not to hurt her friend moving it from one world to another. Finally discover what happened Arumi and Sasshi is when a child goes from being a true master onmyoji modifying the real world so that neither the grandfather dies, and she moves and also to Abe munemune and be happy together.
